I really want to delve deeper into the industry and art that most interest me. TV and Film Production have been something that I loved since the beginning of high school, and getting the opportunity to become a part of the field is something that I've always dreamed of. I see many positives coming out of this experience. First of which would be the experience itself. Gathering experience, knowledge, and connections to people who are already involved is something invaluable that I believe I can gain from this fantastic experience. Also, personal skill is something that I have found grows tremendously when fully immersed in a topic, so doing this program would really allow me to learn a lot. Lastly, like most of the other students interested in this program, I'm shooting for the unexpected. I don't know exactly what I'm going to get out of it, but I know that it is going to be great.
I have not found an exact internship yet, but I have an idea for where I would like to work. I am looking for some kind or video or film production company that creates content and is up to date in the industry. New TV has many of these offerings, but I know that there are many better options in Boston that can be explored. To initiate the process of securing an internship, I have gathered many business cards and gotten to know many people in the industry in Boston that may be able to offer me an internship or know someone who can. I have gotten in touch with a couple freelance and at WGBH.
I would spend whatever time necessary taking my required classes and doing the work associated with those classes, and then spend the rest of my time working on my web portfolio, presentation (closer to the end of the year), and actually participating in the internship.
It makes me very excited to be working in the field I love, with people who share this love, and are also very skilled and experienced in what they do. The professionals I meet and get to work with I hope will be inspirational and this makes me very excited to be an intern.
I am not concerned with any of the things listed above as I have experience with hour obligations, writing formal emails and other communication, building and maintaining a website, presenting in front of an audience, driving, and keeping a tight schedule. However, my only concern is that, because there are so many internships to choose from, I want to choose the right one for me. I have taken all levels of TV Production that definitely help me for my specific field. I also have a leadership position in the community service program I do, and have experience balancing my schedule between different things. I also have experience in performance because I have done many theatre productions in school. This will help me with my presentation skills. I started a small company last year, and built a website for it, so building a website is something I have experience with. In TV Production, we do a lot of formal communication with people who we want to do stories on, so formal and professional communication is also something that I am prepared for.
